Workplace violence is the number one physical security threat of 2022. It has been found that workplace violence is on the rise in recent years and it’s expected to increase at a rapid rate.Employees are increasingly becoming more aggressive and abusive in the workplace, which can cause mental health problems for them as well as their co-workers. People who are victims of violence can be left with trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other mental health issues.
The most common form of workplace violence is verbal abuse, which includes name-calling, swearing, and making threats. Physical abuse includes hitting or kicking someone. Sexual harassment includes unwanted touching or sexual comments. It is also common for workers to be harassed by wage and salary disputes, work environment violations, and unfair treatment. Workplace violence can also include physical assault, such as being stabbed or shot. A study by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health found that 36% of workplace violence incidents were verbal abuse, 30% were physical abuse, 18% were sexual harassment, 21% were wage and salary disputes, 12% were unfair treatment.
Theft

In 2020, the total cost of fraud was estimated to be $1 trillion globally.
Natural Disasters
Natural disasters are the 3rd physical security threat of 2022. With the increase in natural disasters, there is a need for more disaster management to be done. This is done by increasing the number of professionals and volunteers who are trained in disaster management and response.
Natural disasters are a large threat to the world and their numbers are only increasing. They can be predicted by looking at records, studying the environment, and reading scientific reports. There are 6 types of natural disasters: hurricanes, tsunamis, tornadoes, earthquakes, droughts/fires, and frost/freezes.
Biosecurity
Biosecurity is the 4th physical security threat of 2022. In 2014, there was a bioterrorism event in the United States and it cost them $1.6 billion. The most common form of biosecurity is biological terrorism which includes the release of bacteria or viruses and infecting people with those agents. Other forms of biosecurity are chemical and radiological. Remote Work
Remote work has been on the rise for the last two years because of COVID-19. It is projected that by 2022, remote work will be the fifth physical security threat. This is because people are more connected to their devices and can access sensitive data from anywhere in the world.
